Practitioners’ report: Sensing the city

Inclusive public spaces through the senses

This report by Espacio Lúdico presents a project developed with the Proximity of Care Design Guide by Arup and the Bernard van Leer Foundation, focusing on the inclusion of deaf children in public spaces. Through a process of understanding, co-design, and testing, the team created a prototype that encourages interaction between deaf and hearing children, introducing sign language and different ways of communicating. The project also supports safe mobility and aims to foster participation, diversity, and inclusive play in the urban environment.
